2019 Ford Edge ST. Who makes his world debut at the 2018 Detroit Motor Show next week, is the first crossover in the Ford lineup to deliver serious tinkering performance and earn a six badge. New Year’s model soon, Ford gave us our first glimpse of what 2019 Ford Edge ST will be in store for buyers. The initial release mostly focuses on the all-new version 6, but it also touches the rest of Ford Edge ST.
Increased cornering capabilities come courtesy of sport suspension with reoned dampers, springs and standard 20-inch wheels. 21 inch wide wheels are available and can be wrapped with Pirelli P high performance tires. The stability and traction control software is also new, with comfortable modes allowing for increased sliding angle before intervention. Visually set itself apart from the rest of the updated 2019 Ford Edge ST lineup, wearing a six-piece black hexagonal grille, deer side skirts, unique dual exhaust and horse-riding outlets on standard 20-inch wheels or available 21-inch.
The cabin gets significantly boosted seats with suede inserts, silver tone stitching, a six-gauge range and Ford’s performance threshold plates. The standard list of technology is great, with Sync 3 featuring Apple Car Play, Up to 10 devices. Safety features such as frontal collision warning with automatic braking, spot blind monitoring with alarm across traffic, and lane assistance are also included and braking after collision. Available features consist of wireless charging, remote startup, B & O audio system and 12-speaker amplifier and Adaptive Control.
Under the 2019 Ford Edge ST bonnet will sit the same 2.0-liter turbo-four-cylinder, but with an extra 5 horsepower. This should put the standard output at 250 hp and 275 lb-ft of torque. We expect to keep everything else, including the 3.5-liter V5 base with 280 hp and 250 lb-ft of torque. What will be the new six-liter 2.7-liter V6, which will pump 335 hp and 380 lb-ft of torque.
Six new eight-speed automatic transmission will be used, while other tires are expected to continue with a six-speed automatic transmission. Also helping to develop six more apart from the rest of the lineup will be the upgraded sports suspension system and brake system available for performance. The previous Ford Edge ST Sport is expected to be offered.
No pricing information is available yet, but expect six to slot at the top of the range and replace the sport model today, which starts at $40,675. Look for 2019 Ford Edge ST and the rest of the Ford Edge ST family updated to reach dealers towards the end of the summer.
